Research
- Public Policy:Industrialization is a key part of any development effort to lift the disenfranchised majority in any developing society out of poverty, unemployment and underemployment. Industrialization efforts across Sub-Saharan Africa seem to have suffered a case of arrested development, delaying the ushering in of an era of mass prosperity. We at ITSRLab understand that well designed and aggressively implemented public policy is key for successful industrialization. Our research will provide policy makers with insights needed to design policy that will change the production structure of an economy in favour of the manufacturing industry by channeling a government’s selected budgetary and non-budgetary resources and by channeling private capital, labour, and entrepreneurs towards the manufacturing sector.
Training
- In line with the goal of improving the quality of African bureaucracies, we provide training in the area of critical thinking for public administrators. The rational for this is that public administration is essentially centered on humanism. It is made by humans for humans, and hence it must be informed by knowledge and understanding about human nature: its traits, needs, motivations and aspirations to well-being – and the rights and obligations associated to our human condition. To achieve this, it must lay philosophical wisdom alongside technical expertise as the only way forward for a better and more humane society and public governance.
Advocacy
- Connecting with the public and educating the masses is very important to us at ITSRLab, as is having a well-informed public and public debate, is important for societal well-being. To this end, we take it upon ourselves to share our insights with the public via various methods both online and offline. We have before now, made our insights available in books, blog posts and have on appeared on radio programs to discuss pertinent societal issues and shall continue to do so.
